I find it everywhere really; the best ideas come late at night or when I’m on the bus. But there’s no set method however when I’m struggling books, movies and old toys do help.
What mediums do you prefer to work with, and why?
I use paint markers for just about everything really, it’s only the surface that changes. My main 3 surfaces tend to be cardboard, wood and MDF, although for my latest solo show I did a series of works on glass and I’m now keen to do more. I just love the clean, crisp lines that markers provide.
Goldeneye with Super Mario 64 a close second, nothing ever quite lived up to expectations after those.
Does music influence your work, and whom are you listening to these days?
I wouldn’t say it directly influences any content of my work, more that it motivates me and keeps me positive while working.
My music taste is pretty eclectic, Hot Chocolate’s Greatest Hits is playing right now.
“He who hath life, hath time” –Batman from the old 60’s TV show. Always helps me hit deadlines.
Where can you be found on a Friday night?
Most often, at home watching movies.
Probably football, it’s almost a religion.
If you could go back in time to meet anyone, who would it be and why?
Tough question, as most people I would like to meet tend to be fictional Fonzie, Rocky, Sherlock Holmes and Jack Burton. But I think Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp would be cool, a little bit of Wild West action might be fun.
DeLorean, it’s got cooler doors.
Are there any shows, projects, or merchandise we can look forward to seeing from you?
I’ve just finished my second solo show of 2013, but I’m already working on more shows for next year. Also I’ll be producing more products to sell online such as prints, tees etc. I’ve also been experimenting with sculpture so who knows 2014 may see some Brucey toys. Tell us a little known secret about yourself.
I’ve never seen the Big Lebowski.
