Words from David Horvath

What were some of your favorite toys growing up?

I had a couple, the no brainer being Jumbo Mazinger, but I was also a huge fan of Kenner’s Milky the Cow.

She drank water from a troft and then you could milk her. So rad.

Where is the best place to get some eats in LA?

Korea! We spend more time in Korea than LA, and Korea has some incredible spots in every town… especially Myong Dong noodles.

Are there any cool things you are going to be doing this year that you can tell us about?

We have been really excited about the plush line we are bringing out in 2013, we hope you love them as much as we do, and we finally released UGLYBUDDIES…those should hit shops right about now.

Where do you find the inspiration for the Uglydolls characters?

In life all around, but mostly directly from people we meet or interact with.

Humans have such character.

Do you have a favorite Uglydoll? If so which one and why?

I like Wage because he’s so real….much like you. He has a lot of doubts at the front of his mind but when it’s time to go on stage, the fear vanishes and he does his deal perfectly. See, just like you.

Is there any other creative thing you would like to try your hand at, if so what would it be?

We’ve already started!

But as I always say, never tell anyone what you are working on….work and work, then they will find it once it’s out there…and while they are finding it, start the next thing.

Do you own any pets? or do any pets own you?

We have two Chihuahuas in Korea. You know how it goes with Chihuahuas.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

Sleep! But not too much.

Have you gone to see any movies lately, and what is you all time favorite?

I loved Mothman. That was the last movie I was able to go to without having something else on my mind.

It’s been a while. In life you have a choice…either go out, or stay home and make stuff for others to go do.

What type of music do you like to listen to?

AM talk radio or we play documentaries in the background without watching the visuals.

Mostly AM talk radio. I am a huge Tim Conway JR fan and a Leo Laportte junkie.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

We’ve been living in South Korea for years, but have split that time between Seoul and Paris for work.

I would stay in Seoul if I had to decide. The food is so good for you, if you can watch the sodium, and the deserts and beer won’t make you chubby. I wonder why.

Who is your favorite super hero and super villain?

I don’t like super heroes. I feel like they are there to make us believe regular people can’t do amazing things….

Like we need a fictional character to solve the big problems and save the day.

So the truth is I can’t stand super heroes….I’ve felt like that since I was very young.

Batman has an awesome suit though, and Michael Keaton batman is a BAD ASS!!!!

Ok so I guess Michael Keaton Batman wins. His car does too…. see how I talked myself down from that one?

Sandwich or burrito?
