Best city to visit but not to live?
Tokyo
What is your favorite thing about creating art?
That I can do it when I’ve been drinking
Tell us a bit about your color palette: inspiration, choice, etc….
I rarely plan what colors I’m going to use for a piece, which is probably why I would be a terrible painter. But I always end up coming back to pink’s and turquoise. I think I tend to use candy colors to grab peoples attention, and sort of disguise the often sinister nature of the piece. It’s usually not a conscious decision, but I always find myself coming back to the same colors. I think I just go for contrast, and try to make everything really pop, but still keep it balanced as an image.
Any plans for 2011 yet?
I’m not much of a planner….I should probably start doing that.
Where’s the best Hot Dog in the city?
I don’t really eat a lot of hot dogs, but I would say that Crif Dogs on St Marks place is pretty delicious.
What was the worst Halloween costume you’ve worn?
Well, it wasn’t necessarily the worst costume….But I had a dinosaur costume that my Mum made for me when I was in kindergarten, and to keep the tail up it was sewed on to the back of the head with fishing wire. The school had a Halloween parade, and during the parade my wire broke, and my tail was dragging on the ground. I was devastated. I’m pretty sure I didn’t cry though….pretty sure.
What are the kids going to dress as this year?

What is up with “Animals with F**cking Lasers”?
I really wish I knew the answer to that question, but I don’t. It just sort of happened. Sorry. On multiple levels.
When you are starting on a new work what is the first step you take?
I sit and stare blankly, and run through a kaleidoscope of images in my head until I see something that might work….then I try and build it up from there. Its really just me staring at a wall for an extended period of time. I wish it were more interesting.
What is the best way to waste time?
So many answers to this question…..but I think the internet wins.
How does life in NYC differ from Melbourne?
I know it sounds dumb, but life in NYC really is a much faster pace. I walk 10 times faster here than I do when I’m in Melbourne (ok, maybe only 3 times faster). But, that being said, when I’m back in Melbourne I’ve usually been heavily sedated with beer. That might explain why I move so slowly.
Sandwich or Burrito?
Sandwich.
