What is your all-time favorite video game?
Man that’s a tough one. I have too many favorites, but I have been obsessed about Ms. Pac-Man for a long time
Where do you find inspiration for your art?
In a National Geographic magazines, in an arcade, in garage sales, in package product pictures, Dr. Seuss books and in old old stuff.
What mediums do you prefer to work with, and why?
Well maybe any. I like ink and spray-paint, and gesso, and acrylics and markers and crayons, charcoal. I don’t really have a favorite. They all have their ups and downs.
Does music influence your work, and whom are you listening to these days?
Maybe subconsciously, but not that I am aware of. I listen to lots of stuff ranging all the way from Led Zeppelin to Snoop Dogg to Hank Williams Sr.
Where is the best place to eat in the bay area?
In my apartment. It’s 1/2 the price and tastes even better! Haha yes I like to cook a lot.
Beavis and Butthead VS Bart Simpson in a cage fight who wins?
Well probably Bart. I’d be rooting for Beavis and Butthead, but I think they get into accidents more often and are a little clumsier, maybe lazier too. I’ve seen Bart run, but you don’t see Beavis or Butthead run too often.
What can you tell us about your iconic dog character?
It’s a character I drew one day that just kind of stuck with me. Of course it has changed quite a bit over the part few years. Then about 2 years ago when I was back in Michigan visiting my dads, he showed me a drawing he use to draw a lot. It was a cartoon wolf looking character with 3 humps on the nose; it looked pretty close to my character, so maybe that had something to do with it. I use to draw what my dad doodled when I was young. My dad was always drawing characters and mutants and monsters fighting each other, big bugs and weird stuff.
How do you like living in SF, and what do you like most, and least about it?
It’s decent. A little pricey. I like the most how far I don’t have to go to get anything I want. The least favorite part would be the pricing of everything.
What is your all-time favorite quote?
It’s a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll
Where did the name ‘Uncle Mildred’ come from?
Well it’s just a silly old lady’s name that I used to write on stickers and put up in Toledo Ohio. And my buddies thought it was dumb but funny so I just kept doing it. and here we are now 7 years later and the name Mildred still follows me. The uncle part is just for fun…. kinda poking fun at the ridiculousness of it all. A lot of stuff I draw/make includes some play/odd humor.
Where can you be found on a Friday night?
Maybe somewhere playing pinball or somewhere else playing a video game. Or just maybe hanging out at home working on another painting/drawing. If money allowed it I’d be out playing pinball all the time haha
Are there any shows, projects, or merchandise we can look forward to seeing from you?
Shows are coming up, more news about that soon. Check my blog for updates with that. Also my wife Pacolli and I just sent out a bunch of zines/shirts/packs/merchandise to be sold at Good Press gallery in Glasgow UK. They got some awesome stuff going on there. We also added lots of new merchandise to www.highinthebay.bigcartel.com
