Words from Scott Tolleson

What is your favorite beverage?

Non-alcoholic, A Malta

Alcoholic, A Guinness or a well made Cuba Libre

How is it working for Disney?

I’ve been at Disney since ’98. I really like working with my team on projects and for the most part it’s been a gratifying experience. The greatest part is that my job is ever-evolving and can be challenging at times. If I’m not challenged I get bored.

Do you have a favorite character you have created?

Right now I’m partial to my Lyle Bean design. This is the first character I created for a Nosellots line of plush I’ve been working on. I think he has a really cute design that appeals to kids and adults alike. Also, the fact that he’s a real nerd is something I can relate to.

If you could live anywhere in this world or out of this world, where would it be?

Oooo, tough question. I think it would be great to live on Arrakis. Not really because of the landscape, weather or people. But for the all the Spice I would have in my possession. Could you imagine how rich I’d be if I had all that SPICE???

Do you own any pets, if so what, and names. Kids don’t count.

I have a pug named Beatrice. She’s a runt and super feisty.

What is your all time favorite toy you had as a child?

I had the original 1979 Kenner Alien Action Figure. I loved that toy because it was so detailed and large and nobody else I knew had one. My parents were so cool for getting that for me. I wish I still had it.

When do you like to do your creating? And why?

I think I do my best work at night. I’m not sure why but I think it’s because I’m at my calmest then. Mornings and days always seem to be hectic with a lot of running around. I’m able to achieve a better focus at night when my mind isn’t racing around thinking about non-art related matters.

What mediums do you prefer to work with?

I’ve been working digital for a long long time. So if I’m trying to crank something out or need a medium that I have a little more control over this is my default. But my favorite medium to work with is Cel-Vinyl paints. You can treat them like watercolors or you can lay ‘em on thick. I like the range of colors you can get. You can get super bright neon colors or more earthy tones. The only negative is the drying time is relatively fast.

Have you watched any good movies lately ?

I don’t get to watch as many movies as I used to because I’m either super busy or my 2 year old hogs the TV. Lotta Yo Gabba Gabba going on up in my household! I recently watched Troll Hunter, which was a fun watch and Rango. That was a good watch as well. I’d recommend both to the open-minded movie goer.

Are there any upcoming projects you would like to tell us about?

Right now it’s all about Designer Con. I’m working on getting the second Nosellot plush (Bernie Cotton) here in time to sell. I’m also planning on doing some collaborative pieces with DrilOne for D-Con. I need to get cracking on some pieces for 3 different group shows in the next couple of months. I just released some toys with MAQET.com and we’re talking about doing some more in the near future. Very soon I will begin working on a new vinyl piece with October Toys that we plan on releasing in time for SDCC 2012. I have a solo show coming middle 2012 so I need to start thinking about that. I think that’s it for now.

Tell us a little about Stolle’s Neighborhood.

Stolle’s Neighborhood is a place where all my monsters live. It doesn’t really exist, or DOES IT?

What is the craziest thing you have ever done?

Wow, I’m not really a daring person. Some may even say I’m boring. Crazy for me is buying a blind box.

Sandwich or Burrito?

A Sandrrito. Has anyone created that yet? How about a Burrwich?
